Sullivan having a ball at Canadian Golf Golfing national tournament

The score didn’t seem to matter much to Portage golfer Myles Sullivan, who was happy just to be a part of the draw at the 2008 Royal Canadian Golf Association’s Canadian Junior Boys Championship.

Sullivan, 15, received a special invitation to compete in the four-day tournament which runs until Friday, after finishing in a tie for fifth at the Manitoba men’s amateur championship in Gimli from July 7-10. With few expectations going in, Sullivan has been able to fully enjoy his first national championship.

“It’s just such a nice course out there,” said Sullivan. “I really enjoyed just being out there.”

Portage’s golf prodigy had plenty to be happy about after a whimsical opening round of 5-over par 77, on Tuesday.

“I’m pretty happy with the way things went, I ran into a few hiccups here and there but I made some good shots too. It’s a pretty tough course, you really have to put the ball in play,”.
