Getting and Staying in Golf and Golfing Shape

Both hands on the club , my body tense in anticipation of flush contact. Eyes preoccupied with a distant stare of the uncertainty of the golf ball’s destination. I realize that the swing sequence has begun , and i put all available resources into sending the ball on a wanton mission of distance collection. I sense the nature of Fred Couple’s golfing swing. the mass chaos of Tiger Wood’s hips as they rotate through the hitting area , the silent stare of John Daly’s gallery as they try to interpret what they have just saw. It hurts , its sickly and I hear voices from nearby. My body is vibrating like a marked down golf club. I nearly pass out from physical exertion.

Once I get back on my feet to review the moment and wait for everything to die down, I realize that the instument swinging this club has been totally neglected and is in a state of sad disprepair. My extensive regimem up to now is lost.

The Prone Torso Lift

Try to advance the recumbent abdominal and shoulder blade squeeze exercise. you can further challenge your abdominal , spine and shoulder blade muscles by trying the prone torso lift. This golfing exercised provides the same golf specific posture and sturctural reeducation and rebuilding benefits and to a more advanced degree.

Perform this golf enhancement exercise as follows :

1 ) Turn over on your stomach , place several large pillows under your body and place your arms in the double “tray position” with your forehead resting on a towel roll.

2) Perform a pelvic tilt by squeezing you lower abdominal muscles

3) Perform a pelvic tilt by squeezing your lower abdominal muscles an and rotate your pelvis forward.

4) Place your arms in the double tray position keeping your neck long and your chin tucked and lift your upper torso comfortably up off the pillows until you have achieved a straight spine. Be sure to keep your neck tucked in and your lower back flat by contracting your lower abdominal muscles. Remember to continue to breathe comfortably throughout the exercise. Your golf , golf score and golfing game will show results.

3) Place your arms in the double “tray position” keeping your neck long and your chin tucked , and your upper torso

One of the most effective ways for you to master something like golf and golfing and the all important golf swing is so the motion to music.

When you start to move the club and your body into the swing , think of a melody, Make the song real music , Rap with its stacato rhythm is not a good idea…………………………………………………………. The golf swing should be a smooth motion so your golf song should reflect that as well. Frank Sinatra is always Max Labovitch’s favorite.

The first step towards adding body movement to the hands and arms motion is to stand as if at address , your arms crossed over your chest so that your your right hand is on your left shoulder and your left hand is at your right shoulder, Hold your golf clube horizontally against your chest with both hands.

Midswings - Hands and Arms

Position yourself in front of the ball. Now without moving anything except your your hands , wrists and forearms rotate the golf club back until the shaft is horizontal to the ground and the toe the golfing club is pointing up. The key is the movement is the motion of the left hand, which must stay in the space that it is now occupying , in the address position . The left hand is the fulcrum around which the “swing rotates “. The feeling you should have is one of the butt of the golfing club staying in about the same position while your hands lift the clubhead.

After you get the hang of the little drill , graduate to hitting shots with your miniswing. Let the club travel through the full golfing swing of 180 degrees, with the shaft parallel on the through swing. your follow through does not have to be mirror image of the backswing. The golf ball does obviously does not go far with with this drill, but your hands and arms are doing exactly what you want them to do though impact on a full swing. Cock the wrists , hit the ball , recock the wrists.

Golfing: Finishing and Looking the Part of a Golfer

“Swing” through the impact area all the way to the finish. Keep your left leg straight and let your right knee touch your left knee. Hold this golfing position until the golf ball hits the ground to prove that you have swing and swung in the balance.

If you can do all of these things in your golfing game then you are going to appear as a real golfer reasonably fast. Looking the part is important . Think about it. Get on your first tee and appear as a schlepper from Aberdeen or Manitoba Avenue and as if you do not know how to stand to your ball or make a balanced follow through , and you are expected to play badly. You do not need excuses. But if you get up to the tee and make a good golfing swing passerbys are going to stop and watch. And you can have a lot of excuses if you look good at golf and golfing. People will think that you are just having a bad hair day on the golf course.
