Golf’s top women going to Winnipeg

Golf – The top-10 players on the LPGA Tour’s Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings are confirmed for the $2.25 million US 2010 CN Canadian Women’s Open in Winnipeg.

Cristie Kerr, the 2006 CN Canadian Women’s Open Champion and the world’s No. 1-ranked player, will highlight the field Aug. 23-29 at St. Charles Country Club.

Others competing include Japan’s Ai Miyazato, the world’s No. 2 ranked player; six-time LPGA Tour event winner Jiyai Shin, ranked No. 3; Suzann Petersen, the defending CN Canadian Women’s Open champion and No. 4-ranked in the world; fifth-ranked Yani Tseng; sixth-ranked Anna Nordqvist; seventh-ranked Karrie Webb; eight-ranked Song-Hee Kim; ninth-ranked Michelle Wie; and 10th-ranked Angela Stanford.Canadians scheduled to tee it up are: Lorie Kane of Charlottetown, P.E.I., Hamilton’s Alena Sharp, Calgary’s Samantha Richdale, Montreal’s Lisa Meldrum, and Jessica Shepley of Owen Sound, Ont.
